Title: The Dark Crystal: Apollo's Fate
INT. MISSION CONTROL ROOM - DAY
A room filled with NASA scientists, engineers, and computers. On the main screen, we see the APOLLO 13 mission in progress. CAPCOM (Capsule Communicator) is talking to the astronauts, led by JIM LOVELL.
CAPCOM Apollo 13, you are go for lunar landing.
JIM LOVELL (voice over, on radio) Roger that, Houston. We're go for lunar landing.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPACE - APOLLO 13 LUNAR MODULE
The lunar module, with JIM LOVELL, JACK SWIGERT, and FRED HAISE aboard, is approaching the dark side of the moon.
CUT TO:
INT. APOLLO 13 LUNAR MODULE
The astronauts are preparing for the lunar landing. Suddenly, a dark, crystal-like object appears on the lunar surface.
JIM LOVELL What is that? Jack, are you seeing this?
JACK SWIGERT Yes, Jim. It looks like some kind of crystal.
FRED HAISE It's beautiful. Never seen anything like it.
CUT TO:
INT. MISSION CONTROL ROOM - DAY
The team in the mission control room is also seeing the mysterious crystal.
CAPCOM Apollo 13, we're seeing the object as well. Stand by for further instructions.
CUT TO:
INT. APOLLO 13 LUNAR MODULE
The crystal starts to emit a dark, powerful energy that affects the lunar module.
JIM LOVELL Houston, we have a problem. The crystal is emitting some kind of energy, and it's affecting our systems.
CAPCOM (voice over, on radio) Copy that, Apollo 13. Abort the landing and return to the command module immediately.
CUT TO:
INT. MISSION CONTROL ROOM - DAY
The mission control team is frantically trying to figure out the nature of the crystal and how to save the Apollo 13 crew.
CAPCOM We need to find a solution fast. We can't lose them.
CUT TO:
INT. APOLLO 13 LUNAR MODULE
The astronauts are trying to return to the command module, but the dark energy from the crystal is making it difficult.
JIM LOVELL We're losing power. We need to find a way to counteract the crystal's energy.
FRED HAISE Jim, what if we use the lunar module's thrusters to break free from the energy field?
JIM LOVELL It's worth a shot. Jack, start the thrusters.
JACK SWIGERT Thrusters engaged.
The lunar module's thrusters fire, and the craft starts to break free from the crystal's energy field.
CUT TO:
INT. MISSION CONTROL ROOM - DAY
The mission control team is watching as the lunar module slowly escapes the energy field.
CAPCOM Come on, Apollo 13. You can do it.
CUT TO:
INT. APOLLO 13 LUNAR MODULE
The astronauts continue to struggle with the crystal's energy, but they are making progress.
JIM LOVELL We're almost out. Just a little more.
FRED HAISE The energy field is weakening.
Suddenly, the lunar module breaks free from the crystal's energy, and the crew is safe.
JIM LOVELL We did it. We're free.
CAPCOM (voice over, on radio) Apollo 13, we see you're clear of the energy field. Prepare for return to Earth.
CUT TO:
INT. MISSION CONTROL ROOM - DAY
The team in the mission control room is relieved and starts cheering.
CAPCOM Great job, Apollo 13. We'll bring you home safe.
CUT TO:
INT. APOLLO 13 COMMAND MODULE
The lunar module docks with the command module, and the astronauts transfer back. As they leave the dark side of the moon, they take one last look at the mysterious crystal.
JIM LOVELL I wonder what that thing was. The world needs to know about this.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPACE - EARTH
The Apollo 13 spacecraft heads back towards Earth.
CUT TO:
INT. MISSION CONTROL ROOM - DAY
The mission control team is monitoring the Apollo 13's journey back to Earth.
CAPCOM Apollo 13, we have your trajectory for re-entry. Prepare for splashdown.
CUT TO:
INT. APOLLO 13 COMMAND MODULE
The astronauts are preparing for re-entry.
JIM LOVELL Let's bring this story home, guys.
CUT TO:
EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY
The Apollo 13 spacecraft splashes down in the ocean. A rescue team arrives shortly after to recover the astronauts.
CUT TO:
INT. NASA PRESS CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY
JIM LOVELL, JACK SWIGERT, and FRED HAISE are sitting at a table, facing a room full of reporters.
REPORTER 1 What can you tell us about the mysterious crystal you encountered on the lunar surface?
JIM LOVELL We don't know much about it yet, but we're working with NASA to study the data we collected. Whatever it is, it's powerful and potentially dangerous.
CUT TO:
INT. NASA LAB - DAY
Scientists are studying the data collected by the Apollo 13 crew. They are trying to understand the nature of the dark crystal and the energy it emits.
LEAD SCIENTIST There's something about this crystal that defies all our understanding of physics. It's like nothing we've ever seen before.
CUT TO:
EXT. LUNAR SURFACE - NIGHT
The dark crystal stands alone on the moon's surface. Suddenly, the crystal starts to glow, and a dark energy begins to spread across the moon.
FADE OUT.
